GO GREEN KIDS! Summer Green Craft Ideas
Only a few short weeks left until school starts! Just the time of year for the ”MOM, I’M BORED” syndrome to begin! Here are a few craft ideas made from recycled and natural materials that will keep the kids entertained for hours!
Rock Painting:
WHAT YOU NEED:
Rocks
drop cloth
smocks or old clothes
acrylic paint ( variety of colors)
Paintbrush
Instructions
1. Go on a rock collection scavenger hunt! Choose rocks of all different shapes and sizes.
2. Bring the rock home. Wash and dry them.
3. Break out the smocks or dress the kids in old clothes and cover a picnic table or other area with a drop cloth
4. Give your children an assortment of paints and paintbrushes and let them use their imaginations.
5. Let dry completely.
Recycled Ladybug Egg Carton Craft:
WHAT YOU NEED:
Empty egg carton cup
black pipe cleaners cut to approximately 2 inch pieces
Small wiggle eyes (2 per ladybug)
Medium black pom pom (1 per ladybug)
acrylic paint ( variety of colors including black)
Paintbrush
White craft glue (or hot glue gun)
Scissors
Instructions
Separate egg carton cups using scissors, trim the edges *** young children should be supervised
Paint egg cartons in desired colors and let dry.
Glue wiggle eyes and 2 inch pipe cleaners to each side of black pom pom using craft glue and let dry. (hot glue may be desired instead of craft glue. Children should be supervised around hot glue guns)
After the paint dries on the egg cups, apply dots using black acrylic paint and a clean paint brush
Glue pom pom to front of egg cup to create the head of the ladybug
Let dry completely.
