Massachusetts Kids from “America’s Greenest School” are on the Green Bus!
From the desk of Paula Keif, GoGreen Founder & President
For the national America’s Greenest School competition 3rd and 4th graders from the South Shore Charter Public School in Norwell put together a newscast touring their schools green initiatives, which include a vegetable oil-fueled van, recycling stations, and composting.
After being selected one of 10 finalists out of more than 500 entries in March, online voting by nearly 1 million put Norwell at the head of the green class.!
For its efforts to Go Green, the school won a new hybrid school bus worth $200,000 from the Illinois company. The new bus, according to IC Bus, is 65 percent more fuel-efficient than standard school buses and emits a third less greenhouse gases.
The win also earned a $20,000 green audit for the school, $3,000 in scholarships for the students to share, and $500 in supplies. Now these dedicated students can make their Massachusetts school even greener!
