GO GREEN Kids! September Craft Idea

September 9, 2011

Create a magazine holder from an old cereal box

Here is a a fun kids craft project to help chase away boredom on those rainy fall days using old cereal boxes and some imagination! (Small children should be supervised during this craft)

Here’s how to make yours:

1. Collect old cereal boxes and remove inner packaging and any remaining cereal.

2. Cut top off the cereal box. Halfway across top of box, cut at a 45 degree angle down to front of your magazine holder, cut straight across then back up other side at the same angle.

3. DECORATE! Here are a few ideas:

  • Cut up small pieces of colorful recycled paper, old photos, or even leaves and glue to the outside of the box.

Let your child's imagination run wild when decorating his or her magazine holder.

  • Spray paint your box white and  use stamps or even your child’s hand prints to personalize your box.  (We suggest lightly sanding your box before using paints to remove the gloss coating)

What a great gift idea for grandparents!

We would love to here your decorating ideas as well! Leave it in the comments below.
