Here are five of our top picks:

1. Maple syrup contains the important antioxidants zinc and manganese,  both of which aid the immune system in fighting off disease.

2. It takes 30-50 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup!

3. Tapping a tree does not damage the tree and usually no more than 10% of the sap is removed.

4. Maple wood is an excellent carrier of sound waves making it a perfect choice for drum sets and guitar necks.

5. It requires one gallon of maple syrup to produce eight pounds of candy sugar.
