GOGREEN MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: Greenscapes.org

September 6, 2012

We are excited to have new member, Greenscapes Massachusetts, as part of the GoGreen Web Directory family!

The Greenscapes Massachusetts program seeks to educate citizens and professionals about landscaping practices to have less impact on the environment, create an informed and proactive citizenry that acts as environmental stewards in their own backyards and to generate broad support for the responsible public management of water resources (quality and quantity).

MORE ABOUT GREENSCAPES MASSACHUSETTS

WHAT ARE GREENSCAPES?

Simple answer: Greenscapes are beautiful landscapes that protect our water.

Greenscapes are full of color and interest, and require very little water and chemicals to maintain. Greenscaping is a compilation of landscape practices that drastically reduce water usage, encourage groundwater recharge, protect our water supply and reduce stormwater pollution.

WHY SHOULD I GREENSCAPE?

There are two major threats facing the water resources of southeastern Massachusetts.  First, like many urbanized areas in the U.S., we are running out of drinkable water sources and there is less and less water available to sustain our rivers, streams and wetlands.  Second, water quality of our ponds, rivers and bays is impaired, and improvements are difficult and expensive.

HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE INFORMATION?

Visit the greenscapes website for more information and to print your GREENSCAPES GUIDE  full of information on how YOU can start Greenscaping!

Also, be sure to stop by our homepage each week for a new GoGreen Lawn Tip from Greenscapes.

Have you tried any greenscaping techniques? If so, which ones?
