November 28, 2012

Create a Christmas memory with these adorable ornaments!

Looking for a creative and eco-friendly way to decorate your Christmas tree this season?

Want to create a unique and eco-friendly hostess or teacher’s gift ?

Why not try CINNAMON APPLESAUCE ORNAMENTS!

Not only are they fun to make with the kids, they make your whole house smell like Christmas as well!!

THE HOW TO’S:

**although these smell delicious, remind children the dough and ornaments are NOT for eating!**

Ingredients:
1 1/2 – cups store bought applesauce
1 1/2 – cups cinnamon + more for dusting
1/8 – cup tacky glue

Directions:
Thoroughly mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. If the “dough” is too dry, add more applesauce; if it is too wet, add more cinnamon.

Lay a piece of waxed paper or foil on the counter. Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut out different shapes by using cookie cutters.

Add a hole to the top of each ornament using a pencil while the dough is wet. Lay ornaments on foil-covered pan and place in the oven on 170 degrees for 30 minutes.

Remove from oven and let dry for 24-48 hours. Decorate with  holiday ribbon to hang your cinnamon ornaments on the Christmas tree or package in decorative boxes for gifts.
