5 Unusual Ways to Go Green

vegbasket2Most of us know about recycling our trash, buying locally and turning off the lights when leaving the room. But, here are a few UNUSUAL ways to Go Green that you may not have heard of before!

1. Re-arrange your furniture. Maximize your AC efficiency by arranging your furniture and drapes in such a way that it does not block the vent or baseboards. This helps in maximum air circulation in all the areas.

2. How about a Green Burial? From using recycled paper for the programs to preserving the body with dry ice,  green burials are becoming more popular than ever. Interested in finding out more? Visit the Green Burial Council.

3. Bathe less. Bathing can be relaxing, but it uses significantly more water than showering. Also, consider showering every other day. Although it may seem yucky, you will still have good hygiene! We promise!!

4. Shop thrifty! Donate to and shop at thrift and consignment stores. Not only can you find adorable outfits for you and your family at lower costs, you will be protecting Mother Earth as well. While you are there, browse through the home goods section. Often little gems will be waiting for you from home decor wall hangings to a cute chair that just needs a little TLC.

5. Try unusual recipes. Have you tried clover or dandelions? Not sounding delicious? There are in fact many edible wild plants that provide amazing amounts of nutrition to your diet.
