earth day ideas for kidsLooking for Earth Day ideas for Kids? April 22 is fast approaching! What better time to teach your kids about taking care of Mother Earth. Here are a few Earth Day ideas for kids to help make the day fun and educational:

1. PARTY TIME!  Create a day to remember with a  Dr. Seuss “THE LORAX ” party! Invite the neighbor kids over for a viewing of the movie and make some yummy “THE LORAX” cupcakes.  Top the day off by creating a plan for how your neighborhood can help Mother Earth.

2. GIVE THE WORLD A HAND! Preschoolers can learn about taking care of Mother Earth with this fun Earth Day coffee filter craft from Preschool Crafts for Kids:


  • coffee filters(the flat round kind)
  • washable markers
  • construction paper
  • crayons
  • water
  • spray bottle or tooth bush
  • scissors
  • glue

Directions:earth day ideas for kids

  1. Take a coffee filter and color randomly with blue and green.
  2. Spray with water or sprinkle on water with toothbrush. The colors will mix together. Allow to dry.
  3. Trace hands on construction paper and cut out.
  4. Glue hands together on a sheet of paper with thumbs facing out. Only glue the palm parts.
  5. Glue the Earth on top of the hands.
  6. Fold up the fingers to look like they are holding the Earth.

3. PLANT A FAMILY GARDEN! Now that the colder weather is finally behind us, use Earth Day to plant your family garden! What a great way to create memories AND teach your children about taking care of the Earth. Gardening also provides a wonderful family project that lasts well into fall.
